Wielding the power of shadow, Warlocks make formidable enemies. Destroying her enemies over time and mastering her command over demons, the WoW Warlock is fearsome.

The Warlock in World of Warcraft is a DPS class, using damage over time (DoT) spells to cripple, weaken, and destroy enemies. Making efficient use of the Warlock’s crowd control spells – Fear, for example – can allow the Warlock and her summoned demon to handle multiple enemies at once. Because of this, the Warlock is an excellent solo class and a formidable enemy in PvP combat.

WoW Warlock Talent Trees – Affliction, Demonology and Destruction

The Affliction tree in World of Warcraft focusing on increasing the Warlock’s DoT damage, improving drains, and strengthening curses. Affliction Warlocks are an excellent solo choice, especially if the Warlock plans on using the drain-tanking style of play. Highlights of the Warlock Affliction tree include Shadow Mastery (increases damage or life drained by shadow spells by 15% with 5 points) and Dark Pact (Drains an amount of your pet’s mana and returns to you, 1 point).

For those Warlocks who want dominion over all demons, the Demonology tree will see the most talent points spent. Spells in the WoW Demonology tree grant the Warlock additional benefits for using their demon, allow the Warlock to sacrifice their pet for bonuses, and even allow the Warlock to summon the dreaded Felguard. Highlights of the Demonology tree include Demonic Tactics (increases Warlock and pet melee and spell critical chance by 10% with 5 points) and Demonic Embrace (increases stamina by 10% with 5 points).

The Destruction tree grants the Warlock an increased DPS to standard spell damage (as opposed to DoT damage), in effect increasing the Warlock’s nuking ability. Highlights of the Destruction tree in World of Warcraft include Ruin (increases the critical strike chance of destruction spells by 100% with 5 points) and Improved Immolate (Increases initial damage caused 30% with 3 points).

World of Warcraft Warlock – Support from the Demonic Realm

The Warlock in WoW is a damage dealing de-buffer class, channeling the power of the darkness to slowly destroy their enemies or aid their allies. As mentioned earlier, the Warlock is quite capable of conquering much of the World of Warcraft solo, especially while using the Voidwalker as a tank. Careful use of their pets (Imp, Voidwalker, Succubus, Felhunter, Felguard) make Warlocks one of the toughest and most feared classes in WoW, as anyone who has ever been ‘fear-locked’ can attest to.

Warlocks can maintain respectable numbers in raid and PvP situations as well. Warlocks are a very entertaining and rewarding class to play for players of any level. Warlocks in World of Warcraft may very well be the best solo class, excepting perhaps the Hunter.

Sad that Warlock abilities got nerfed (weakened) during the last several patch updates and expansions. Warlocks are still one of the best classes to level solo, but are almost unviable for PvP combat nowadays.
