The Barbarian Class of DDO Eberron UnlimitedDungeons and Dragons Online a Free MMORPG
Dungeons and Dragons Online: Eberron is a free to play massive multi-player role-playing game which has eleven unique classes to play.
In Dungeons and Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited (DDO), which is developed by Turbine, Inc., players have the ability to choose between eleven unique classes that fill a variety of roles. Every class has its own purpose and excels in different situations, so no class should be thought of as "worthless". The Barbarian Class of Dungeons and Dragons OnlineMelee classes typically fight in close-hand combat and have little in the means of magic spells. They possess a high constitution, which gives them a large amount of life. Most melee classes also have a high strength and defense, which makes them an effective tanking character. Due to these attributes, the solo-ability of melee characters is fairly high. The Barbarian is one of these melee classes. Barbarians are described by DDO as "Barbarians possess incredible strength and offensive power. They are not as well armored as fighters, but they can absorb damage and go into a battle rage to overwhelm their enemies." When DDO says that barbarians possess an incredible amount of power, it sure means it. A lot of the barbarian skills, feats, and enhancements raise the damage that barbarians can do. Then, Barbarians also have access to their powerful rage ability, as DDO states. This rage ability gives the barbarian +4 bonus to strength and constitution, a +2 morale bonus to will saves, and a -2 penalty to their armor class. After around thirty seconds (the time varies depending on the character's constitution), the rage will end and the barbarian will become fatigued. When the rage ends, players will have the bonus hit points they gained from the rage (due to the increase in constitution) subtracted from their current number of health points. Barbarians can fight using a wide variety of weapons, which allows players to pick a weapon of their preference. (All martial and simple weapons are usable by barbarians.) Unfortunately, as DDO states, barbarians are not as heavily armored as fighters. They can only wear medium and light armors, unlike the fighter who can also use heavy armors. But, barbarians can use a shield if they wish. Barbarians can easily play the role of a "tank" character, because of how the skills and enhancements work for barbarians. For instance, there are enhancements that raise the barbarian’s life, negate a certain amount of damage for a time, and raise how much damage they do. Barbarians lack an Area of Effect (AoE) ability, though, so they may become overwhelmed by enemies once their rage ends. A full list of spells, feats, and enhancements can be found here: http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Class:Barbarian Basic Stat Points of a Barbarian (Please note that these stats are based on the recommended path for the class, by DDO. Depending on which path the player picks, or if they customize their path, the stats will change.) A level 1 Barbarian's stats are as follows:
Is the Barbarian a Good Class? The barbarian is an excellent class for many situations. Because it can deal out a large amount of damage to single targets, and can also function as a "tank" character, their use will not be limited, unless it is against a creature that takes little damage from melee weapons. If partied with a cleric, or another class that can heal, barbarians will find themselves even more effective, as their chance of dying will be minimal. If the player wishes to play alone, the barbarian will be an excellent class for them. With the ability to absorb damage, deal out damage, and go into rage, the barbarian will excel in most situations.
