Smugglers in Star Wars Galaxies get the goods that the people of the galaxy want to them without interference from the Galactic Empire.

Smugglers are honest traders that carry the goods that the Empire does not want the average citizen to have from planet to planet in the Star Wars Galaxies universe. The Jedi may contemplate the spiritual aspects of the force while the bounty hunters track down the scum of the universe, but a true Star Wars game would not be complete without incorporating characters that represented the thin gray line that exists between good and evil.

Leveling a Smuggler in Star Wars Galaxies takes patience and persistence. The process of grinding experience by killing monsters is the same in virtually every mmorpg, and of course, knowing about agro control is a must for any mmorpg character. Levlling up the skills unique to the smuggler class in Star Wars Galaxies involves doing contraband missions for the galaxy's crime bosses.

Smuggler Combat Considerations

Because most of the combat interaction in Star Wars Galaxies is ranged, smugglers are at a distinct disadvantage over the other professions. Smuggler weapons have a maximum range of 45 meters on their weapons, but most players do not choose a smuggler to be the peak of combat perfection. The Jedi, the Commando, and the Bounty Hunter all fill that role in a better matter. Star Wars Galaxies smugglers, like their real-life counterparts, are more concerned with the movement of goods that are in high demand and usually not legal.

The smuggler combat skills are needed for PvP (player versus player) missions, and it is easier to grind the levels up earlier in the game and gain needed faction by killing non-player characters (NPCs) that give faction gains that the smuggler needs.

Smuggler Missions

Killing monsters gives a Star Wars Galaxies smuggler character combat level experience to increase his combat level. Dirty fighting is a part of the experience of the smuggler class, but it is also necessary for characters to move contraband from system to system or different places within the same planet. To gain experience in the skills unique to the profession, a Star Wars Galaxies smuggler must complete contraband quests.

Contraband items can be looted from mobs or from ships destroyed in spacefighter combat, but the only use for contraband items in Star Wars Galaxies is completing smuggler missions. Completing the missions yields faction with the crime bosses, but the higher the level of the missions, the less faction they reward. A curious design quirk of the game causes less faction to be needed the higher a smuggler's level within his criminal organization is.

Smuggler missions fall into two types, the first is the normal mission and the second is the PvP mission. If a player fails at either type of mission, a bounty is placed on his head and he may find bounty hunters tracking him down.

The Star Wars Galaxies Smuggler

The smuggler fills the role of the rogue in Star Wars galaxies and can get into places that have been locked down or out of tight spots. Players who enjoy role-playing shadier, but not outright evil characters may take up the smuggler class to further their own ends. A Star Wars Galaxies smuggler should be careful. One wrong move and a Star Wars Galaxies smuggler may find himself being tracked down by a bounty hunter.
