How to Use Runes in RoM

The differences between enhancement runes, production runes, and the special runes are explained and details given on each type of rune.

Runes of Magic has varying runes in the game that are used in different ways. To fully maximize a playing style, one should know what each of the runes do and what type of rune it is. There are three types of runes in the RoM game, there are enhancement runes, production runes, and special runes. The special runes aren’t for producing or enhancing anything in the game.

Special Runes in RoM

There are three special runes thus far in the game of Runes of Magic. These cannot be used in weapons or armor.

  • Home Sweet Home Runes – The Home Sweet Home rune is there to make it easier to transport to the house a player has in the game. Right clicking on the rune will take one directly inside of their house.
  • Transport Runes – The Transport runes are used with the transport function in the game. To transport burns up one transport runes, when they run out one will need to use a hearth recall or other method to transport throughout the game.
  • Guild Runes – The Guild Rune will give a guild one magical essence. These are used as guild contributions.

Enhancement Runes in RoM

Currently there are eleven enhancement runes in the game of Runes of Magic. These are what are used in runes slots in the armor and the weapons in game.

  • Shell – The Shell I rune gives a 6 magical defense bonus, the Shell II rune gives a 8 magical defense bonus, and the Shell III rune gives a 12 magical defense bonus.
  • Shield – The Shield I rune gives a 6 physical defense bonus, the Shield II rune gives a 8 physical defense bonus, and the Shield III rune gives a 12 physical defense bonus.
  • Strike – The Strike I rune gives a 6 magical attack bonus, the Strike II rune gives a 8 magical attack bonus, and the Strike III rune gives a 12 magical attack bonus.
  • Harm – The Harm I rune gives a 6 physical attack bonus, the Harm II rune gives a 8 physical attack bonus, and the Harm III rune gives a 12 physical attack bonus.
  • Vitality – The Vitality I rune gives a 3 wisdom bonus and the Vitality II rune gives a 4 wisdom bonus.
  • Endurance – The Endurance I rune gives a +10 maximum hit points bonus and the Endurance II rune gives a +17 maximum hit points bonus.
  • Magic – The Magic I rune will give a +10 maximum mana points bonus and the Magic II rune gives a +17 maximum mana points bonus.
  • Mind – The Mind I rune gives a 3 intellect bonus and the Mind II rune gives a 4 intellect bonus.
  • Power – The Power I rune gives a 3 strength bonus and the Power II rune gives a 4 strength bonus.
  • Quickness – The Quickness I rune gives a 3 dexterity bonus and the Quickness II rune gives a 4 dexterity bonus.
  • Resistance – The Resistance I rune gives a 3 stamina bonus and the Resistance II rune gives a 4 stamina bonus.

Production Runes in RoM

There are six special runes thus far in the game of Runes of Magic. These cannot be used in weapons or armor.

  • Frost – The Frost rune is used for level 11 and above recipes in the Blacksmithing profession.
  • Link – The Link rune is used for level 11 and above recipes in the Carpentry profession.
  • Purify – The Purify rune is used for level 11 and above recipes in the Armorcrafting profession.
  • Activate – The Activate rune is used for level 11 and above recipes in the Cooking profession.
  • Blend – The Blend rune is used for level 11 and above recipes in the Alchemy profession.
  • Disenchant – The Disenchant rune is used for level 11 and above recipes in the Tailoring profession.

Knowing which runes are used with what professions can keep a player from storing runes that they may not ever use. An alternative to this is selling them on the Auction House.
