How to Play Facebook's Most Popular Cooking Game
Restaurant City allows players to design every aspect of their own restaurant, from interior and exterior decorations to menu items and staff clothing. Friends can be hired on as waiters, cooks and janitors to help run the restaurant.
Money is earned through the dishes being served and by picking up trash. As dishes are served the restaurant's experience, referred to as gourmet points, will increase until the max level of 32 is reached. Leveling up allows players to reach various milestones such as creating a larger restaurant, opening plots of the garden, and hiring more staff.
As previously mentioned leveling can be accomplished by serving dishes and earning gourmet points. The number of points earned per dish depends on the level of each particular menu item being served. Players start out being able to serve one dish from each of the three menu sections; appetizers, entrees and desserts.
Drinks unlock once the player reaches level 15 and purchases a drink dispensing machine. As players level further they are able to serve up to three items from each section. Each menu item must be unlocked by gathering the ingredients, and then can be leveled by repeating the process until the menu item has reached level 10.
A free ingredient is given each day and there is an opportunity to win another one with the daily food quiz. An ingredient is also given each time a new friend's restaurant is visited. The market sells three ingredients every day and some can be grown randomly in the garden plots outside the restaurant. For more first-visit ingredients the Playfish forum always has people looking for friends.
Quick Ways to Level Up in Restaurant City
To gain gourmet points more quickly focus on one dish per section and level that one to royal (level 10). The higher the level of the menu item, the more gourmet points earned when that dish is served. At level 10 each dish earns 2.8 points, as opposed to the one point earned by simple (level one) dishes. Even if all three menu items are available limit serving to the one that is highest. That way every dish being served will earn the most gourmet points per dish, leveling the restaurant faster.
Players will also receive gourmet points for picking up trash. If looking for more ways to earn gourmet points spend some time visiting friends' restaurants and pick up the trash laying around. Visit random streets as well and find plenty of restaurants that have built up trash.
Earning Coins In Playfish's Restaurant City
Coins are earned through the dishes served in the game. Each dish served, regardless of level, will earn two coins. The trick is to keep the restaurant rating high so more customers will come in. The rating is shown in the top right hand corner of the game next to a thumbs up sign, 50 being the highest rating.
To keep the rating high make sure the staff stay reasonably happy by not allowing their happiness to drop below 50 per cent. They can be fed to regain happiness or put to rest. Block the door to avoid the rating dropping when not playing or when the staff are resting.
Coins can also be earned by purchasing an arcade game or slot machine. These games earn one coin per use. On top of that coins can be earned by picking up trash and some can be found in random trees. There is also the option of buying Playfish cash. With the cash special items and decorations can be purchased and all the ingredients can be easily acquired.
