Battleground XP Provides a New Way to Earn Honor While Leveling

Battleground experience has given players a new way to secure many level 80 epic items prior to reaching level 80. It helps avoid having to grind honor after reaching 80.

In patch 3.2, Blizzard made it possible to gain experience while participating in World of Warcraft PVP battlegrounds. Although this is not the fastest way to level on many realms, it is a very good way to get to level 80 fully decked-out with WoW PVP epic gear by earning honor and experience at the same time.

Keep in mind that leveling in WoW battlegrounds does not lend itself to making gold, earning reputation, or advancing in professions. Most PVP players need a lot of WoW gold to purchase enchants and gems for the PVP epic gear being earned. Although it's possible to make lots of gold with Icecrown cash dailies at level 80, they will be difficult or impossible to complete without the cold weather flying skill, which itself requires 1000 gold.

Alterac Valley

Alterac Valley (AV) is the battleground of choice to maximize both honor and experience gain. There are mobs all over the AV battleground that generate experience upon a kill. Meanwhile, other players completing PVP objectives such as destroying towers award both experience and honor. It is not necessary to participate in PVP to earn the vast most of the experience and honor generated in the battleground. Winning AV results in 150,000 experience or above.

After the battle starts, players should head towards either the harpy cave or the gnoll cave depending on which is closer for their faction. Then the harpies or gnolls should be killed for experience. Meanwhile, the level 80 players doing the actual PVP earn honor for everybody. If there is another player killing mobs in the cave, nearby players can step away from the computer for a few minutes and leech both experience and honor at the same time. This is possible since everyone is in the same raid group.

Spending Honor

PVP Honor gear should be bought periodically to avoid the hitting the 75000 honor cap. Although a player cannot use level 80 PVP items, they can be bought from the PVP vendor in Orgrimmar or Stormwind and placed in the bank until level 80.

AV Losses are OK

Those who want to level to 80 in AV should not despair if their faction loses most of the time. Experience gain is around 70,000 in most losses since 1-3 towers are still destroyed along with the bonus honor earned for destroying towers.

In almost all cases, both factions gain bonus honor for killing Galv and Balinda. The only time when losing not productive is when it's a slow loss that takes more than 20 minutes. In those cases, it may be better to leave the battleground and do something else in World of Warcraft or real life.

Battleground experience is a great way for PVP players to earn level 80 epic PVP gear while leveling. By leveling in battlegrounds, players save time from not having to grind honor points upon reaching level 80.
