Killzone 2 Multiplayer Guide: WarzoneAn Overview of Guerilla's Seamless Multiplayer
When playing Warzone, any number of game types can occur and players must adapt fast if they are to succeed. Here is an overview of the five game types.
There are five game types in Killzone 2's multiplayer, and unlike most online shooters, players don't have to endure lobbies or loading screens in-between each one. Warzone offers a seamless experience of all five game types. However, this is a double-edged sword. The five game types are varied and complex and require different tactics accordingly. In order to understand each game type, here is a brief summary of all five and some hints and tips to use as well. Killzone 2 Body Count The goal of Body Count is simple: kill as many enemies as possible in the designated time-limit. Although such game-types are inherently chaotic, a tactical assault can tip the scales in a player’s favour. The map Body Count is being waged on should always be considered. Smaller maps mean Engineers and Saboteurs prosper, whereas larger maps are more suited to Scouts and Tacticians. Tacticians and Engineers are often the most appropriate class to choose for Body Count, as strategic placing of both turrets and spawn-grenades can help enforce an assault or repel an enemy's. Players who choose to run off, guns blazing, throwing the notion of team-work to the wind, are always going to be a problem. If the enemy is skilled and disciplined, they will rack up points swiftly due to the Rambo-wannabe storming their side. Killezone 2 Search and Retrieve In Search and Retrieve, a propaganda speaker will spawn in a designated point on the map, and each team must find it, retrieve it, and take it to a receiver which is usually located on the enemy’s side of the map. One of the main dilemmas a player will face when playing this game type is whether they should attack or defend. Engineers and Scouts should usually defend, whereas Rifleman, Saboteurs and the Assault class should attack. Tacticians should adopt a more varied role. Search and Retrieve necessitates team-work. It is considerably more difficult to play this game type without coordination or communication. Plan your assault, make sure everybody knows their role and don’t forget to defend now and again. Search and Destroy in Killzone 2 The goal of Search and Destroy it to make it to a certain location on the map, plant two explosives without dying, and then prevent the enemy from defusing them until the timer runs out and the fireworks ensue. Search and Destroy will occur twice in Warzone, either with the player attacking or defending. The objective is simple either way, and the same tactics and methods apply. Filling the designated area with turrets and spawn-grenades will cause chaos and confusion, but can help either overwhelm the defenders or undermine the attackers. Scouts should sweep the area for unwitting foes, and Assault classes can often help defend either an explosive being defused or one waiting to explode! Consider the map before an assault/defence in Search and Destroy. Large maps mean medium and long-range weaponry will help, whereas the smaller maps suggest a shotgun or SMG might be more appropriate. The Capture and Hold Mode in Killzone 2 In Capture and Hold, designated areas scattered across the map must be held and defended from the enemy. Points are gained by holding an area for long enough, with the point-gauge filling up quicker if more areas are held. To begin with, it is essential the player captures the area nearest to where they spawn. Then they should start spreading out. A single player, if smart enough, can reclaim an enemy-controlled area and hold it for long enough until company arrives. Again, Tacticians are essential, as dropping spawn-grenades means the team can swamp an enemy-controlled area, or reinforce one of their own. Assassination in Killzone 2 The objective in Assassination is simple: either a friendly or an enemy player will be chosen as the assassination target. Players, if they haven’t been chosen, should either rally to a friendly target or start searching for the enemy’s. Like Search and Destroy, Assassination will occur twice and requires vaguely similar tactics. However, unlike the stationary bases, a friendly or enemy target can move around and fight back. Remember this. If chosen as a target, it seems obvious that a player should find somewhere to hide. This isn’t always the best choice. Staying mobile and alert is often a much better option to take. The enemy can always see where an assassination target is, so hiding is mostly useless unless a target is heavily fortified. Killzone 2's Warzone Recap Unless they're playing a match with bots, players should always remember their team. Defend a team-mate planting an explosive, or heal a friendly assassination target squirming on the floor. Killzone 2 rewards benevolence with points! And remember; Communicate. Coordinate.
