In the instance called Shadow Labyrinth in World of Warcraft, there are two bosses that can be defeated by using a strategy based on the boss' abilities.

The Shadow Labyrinth is a high-level instance in World of Warcraft that has four bosses. The last two of the bosses, Grandmaster Vorpil and Murmur, can be killed using very simple strategies.

Grandmaster Vorpil

The third boss is Grandmaster Vorpil. He has three abilities for players to be concerned with:

  • Banish- This is just like the warlock Banish and it is put on a random player in the raid. During this time they cannot attack or be attacked.
  • Summon Party- Using this ability, Grandmaster Vorpil summons the party to him and then uses Rain of Fire on the party. Everyone in the party must run out of the Rain of Fire to reduce the damage they take.
  • Shadow Bolt Volley- This spell shoots shadow bolts at the whole party dealing 850-1150 damage.

The fight starts with five portals opened around Grandmaster Vorpil. The tank should agro Grandmaster Vorpil where he stands at the beginning of the fight. During the fight, all DPS is on him.

When a void comes out of the portals, DPS should target it and burn it down. If these voids reach Vorpil they explode dealing 1500 damage. After the void traveler is dead, DPS goes back on Grandmaster Vorpil. This process should be repeated until Grandmaster Vorpil is dead.

Murmur

Murmur is the final boss. He is a white boss that looks just like Ragnoros from the Molten Core instance. Although he cannot move, this is still a tough fight for most players. He has four main abilities that he uses in his attacks:

  • Mangetic Pull- This ability is used on a random player. They are pulled to Murmur and are attacked. The spell cannot be interrupted and the affected player must be healed throughout the attack.
  • Sonic Boom- Murmur will emote and then build up to a sonic boom which will hit everyone within a 34 yard radius, deal damage equal to 80% of a player’s health. It will also apply a debuff that slows players by 90% with 12% damage over time for several seconds.
  • Murmur’s Touch- This is an ability that will apply a debuff to a random person in the party, count down to ten and explode on the player for 400 nature damage and send them in the air doing roughly 1000 fall damage. It also inflicts nature damage on any player nearby, silencing them.
  • Resonance- This applies a debuff that decrease nature damage take by 2000 and does 2000 nature damage that can stack, but will only be applied when no one is in melee range.

Winning the fight is simple and strait forward. Murmur starts the fight at only 40% health so the fight is quick. The tank should hold aggro while everyone else stays out of Murmur’s Sonic Boom and does ranged attacks. The tank should receive big heals throughout the Sonic Boom. If the tank gets Murmur’s Touch, then someone must be in melee range of Murmur. Whoever gets Murmur’s Touch should run to one of the tents and explode there so they do not take fall damage and die.

Using these strategies, most well-formed parties will be able to defeat the bosses in one try.
