Herbalism, or herb collecting, in Runes of Magic is one of three gathering professions in the game.

In Runes of Magic there are three gathering professions as of May of 2009; mining, herb gathering, and woodcutting. With the herbalism gathering, characters will go around the land and harvest plants and herbs that are in their level. These are used in production crafts like alchemy.

Herb Gathering in Runes of Magic

While going through the land questing and slaying monsters, the player will come across glowing or glittery plant objects. These items are ones that will show up on the minimap as a green plant. All that the player will need to do to gather the herbs around them are by left clicking the mouse while over the object.

There are no special objects that the player needs to gather herbs in the game. Herbs will stack in mounds of 100.

There are 15 herbs that are currently in the game of Runes of Magic as of May of 2009. These are the herbs and their required proficiency level needed to harvest them.

Herbalism in Runes of Magic

After the raw herbs are gathered, the player is able to use the Alchemy stations and refine the herbs into things like bundles and sap without needing the alchemy skill. This refining will also up the herbalism skill of the player slightly. To refine herbs, go to the Alchemy station and select “Extraction” on the skills list.

Then there will be, if the proper recipes have been purchased from the herb trainers, listings for saps and bundles and other items that the player can select and process. The player can select either to process one, select “max” and make the maximum they have ingredients for, or anywhere in between with the “-“ or “+” buttons.

Making Gold with Herb Gathering

Using herbalism in Runes of Magic as a gold making device is simple. Gather as much herbs as possible and then check the auction house before processing to see where the best value is. Some days sap will be selling for more, some days bundles - it is all about supply and demand.

Having established where the value is, the player needs to go to the Alchemy station and create what they can and put up on the Auction house. This will up their skill levels and their bank accounts.
