Godfather II for Facebook Tips and Hints

Strategies For Winning the Game

Mar 22, 2009 Christopher Minster

Godfather II is a popular new facebook application in which your "mobster" can move up the ranks of any one of six "families" by raiding and taking over criminal rackets.

Godfather II is a fun, easy Facebook game played daily by thousands of people around the world. Here are some tips on how to get started.

How to Start:

Players should start by adding the application. Then, new players are walked through how to play: they're assigned a "hit" and then given a racket, assigned a nickname and put into a family. New players also make an avatar and personalize it with clothes, hair, etc.

What are Rackets?

There are two ways to make “money” during the game (obviously, not real money here, game money). One, attacking rackets of other players and two, taking over “rackets” which pay a certain sum of money daily.

There are seven sorts of rackets and players are allowed to own different numbers of each. In total, players can have up to 24 rackets. They are:

  • Fronts (maximum of 6)
  • Drugs (4)
  • Chop Shop (3)
  • Gambling (3)
  • Construction (3)
  • Gun Running (3)
  • Adult Entertainment (2)

To take over a racket, search the game for a target. If the racket is unguarded, attack it and select “take over racket.” If it’s guarded, first hit, bomb or raid it a couple of times until the guards are gone. Once a racket has been taken over, the game gives the option of filling it with guards and weapons: this is a good idea.

Strategy:

The game “winners” are those individuals and families that have the most money, so the objective is to earn it. Forget attacking for money: it’s not usually worth it. Instead, get rackets and “crime rings.” A crime ring is holding the maximum number of any particular racket. For example, if someone owns three construction rackets, that’s all he is allowed to have, so it’s a crime ring.

Crime rings pay more than simple rackets (it’s more lucrative to own 3 construction rackets than one each of construction, gambling and chop shop, for example), so fill up the small ones first, like adult entertainment or gun running. Save fronts for last; guards cost money and players will actually lose money on fronts until they own all six.

Who to Attack

A new racket is added to the game with every new player. Therefore, for every player with all 24 rackets, there are 23 players out there with none. Some players are ruthless, making alliances and violently retaliating against anyone who attacks them, while others join the game, lose interest and move on.

As a rookie, a good rule of thumb is not to attack anyone with more rackets and crime rings than you. Look for inactive or semi-active opponents. Look on their wall: if there are many posts, do not hit them, as most active players will hit back twice as hard. Never attack anyone in your own family unless attacked first.

More Tips:

  • Most families have facebook groups that can be joined. Do this to make allies, co-ordinate attacks and find advice.
  • High level players sometimes get bored and simply blast away at some rival family member, and then post that person’s name on the family wall, saying “open rackets.” It's a good idea to take these open rackets. Sometimes the owner will retaliate, but that's the game.
  • Players should avoid vendettas and tit-for-tat attacks, at least until they have all 24 rackets. If a "Bigger fish" attacks and takes over someone's rackets, the best strategy is to wait until stronger and serve the revenge cold. To add someone to the vendetta list, click the cross hairs on their profile.
  • Hire “made men” when possible, as they give more hours and cheaper attacks.

Good luck!
