Evony is a free to play MMORPG set in a browser that plays like a Sim City/Civilization hybrid. Honor points do nothing, but increases bragging rights.
Many players in Evony, the new free MMORPG game that is attracting many gamers with its barely clothed female ads, are curious as to what there is to do in the game. Once they get an account and begin their starter quests, they start to see that buildings and trainings take hours to do (and these are real time hours). Now people in the game are starting to work on their honor points (something that begins at -0- with a player). Evony GameplayEvony’s game style is a combination of Sim City and Civilization. Players can build cottages for their population and set them working in quarries, farms, sawmills, or the iron mines. Working in these places can up a city’s production to use for upgrades, future army’s needs, or to sell in your Marketplace. While the city’s upgrades are going on, things like army recruiting and training can take place, plotting them in exercises and marches. Scouting can give players intelligence on rogue armies and NPC (non playable character) cities. Gaining Honor PointsHonor points are tallied and added in to player’s stats after taking over troops in battle or by overtaking fortifications that are done by other players in the game. While players can attack and take over NPC towns in the game, honor is not given for that they give prestige points instead. Raising your honor score is done by repeatedly taking over towns or killing the armies of those you are attacking. Losing Honor PointsJust as players can earn honor points by attacking and winning, they are going to be able to lose those points by being attacked and losing. To the victor goes the spoils, they say, and in Evony it goes for troops, rations, and even honor points. There can be times when a player can win a battle and lose some honor points for the army’s deaths. Honor is RelativeGaining and losing honor points are proportional. You can fight an enemy player and gain honor points even if they themselves have no honor points, but slaying an enemy with many honor points will net the player more in earnings. If the gamer is able to win in battle without losing any of their own troops, they can earn even more honor. Start battles wisely, attacking lesser weaker opponents first and raising your honor slowly before taking on stronger, higher honored players. For every honor point the player doesn’t lose, is an honor point they won’t have to re-earn as well.
